April Crowson
Wife. Gardener. Dog Lover. History Buff.
Owner/Managing Attorney
April has practiced family law in Davidson County for more than 20 years. She serves as the managing attorney and is involved in all aspects of the practice. April graduated from North Davidson High School in Welcome, majored in history at Elon College and taught at Lexington High School for four years before attending Wake Forest University, where she earned her law degree in 2001. She likes to spend her free time working in her flower garden, travelling with her husband, Courtney, and spending time with their dogs, Joey, and Shabazz.
Ruth I. Bradshaw
Mother of boys, Wife, and Mother of two dogs.
Attorney
Ruth graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in English and a B.A. in Family and Child Development. After spending 5 years working in the corporate world, she attended North Carolina Central University School of Law where she graduated cum laude. Since graduating from law school, Ruth has exclusively practiced family law. She is a board-certified specialist in family law, certified family financial mediator, and certified parenting coordinator. Her primary office location is in the Winston Salem Office of AFLG. When Ruth is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and their pets.

Colleen Isaacson

Attorney
Colleen joined Advocate Family Law Group in November 2022. As an attorney, Colleen works directly with clients who are undergoing stressful family law matters and takes pride in assisting clients through what is often described as the worst time in their lives. Colleen earned her law degree in 2018 from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California, with a special commendation for outstanding commitment to public service. Originally from Chantilly, Virginia, Colleen has spent much of her life living in different areas of the country. She is happy that her career path has led her to a place where she can serve hard-working North Carolinians every day. Colleen lives in Winston-Salem with her husband, her son, and her dog, Jane. When she is not working or on mom duty, you can probably find Colleen reading a book, doing yoga, or lifting weights at the gym.

Holly has been an attorney at Advocate Family Law Group since 2019. She works primarily with clients interested in adoption, and wills and estate administration. Additionally, she serves as Operations Manager onboarding new clients and providing oversight in accounting matters. Holly was born and raised in Lexington. She graduated from Appalachian State University in 2014 with a degree in Political Science and is a 2017 graduate of Campbell University School of Law. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her precious Shih Tzu, Louie.

Joetta McQueen

Joetta has practiced family law since 1987. A graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio with a B.A. in psychology, she earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law, where she was an adjunct professor for seven years. Joetta served on the Wadsworth, Ohio city council, was an acting judge, and volunteered for many organizations. After moving to North Carolina in 1996, she continued to practice law while serving our community on several boards and as a volunteer. Joetta was a NC State Bar Certified Family Financial Mediator for many years. Although she considers herself semi-retired, Joetta is available for client consultations and for brainstorming solutions to cases with the other attorneys in our firm. She truly loves serving others. A cat mom and admitted crazy cat lady, Joetta also loves God, family, sports, chocolate, and laughing until tears run down her legs.

Jennifer Beeker

Jennifer joined AFLG in 2024 and works in family law matters, estate planning, and administration. She earned her associates degree in Paralegal Technology from DCCC and has 30 years of experience as a Paralegal, working in various areas of law. Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys spending time with family, her corgi, Ellie Mae and mini long-haired dachshund, Evie Taylor and spending as much time as possible on the lake, at the beach and traveling with friends.

Lori joined the team in 2020, shortly after April opened Advocate Family Law Group, serving as our intake specialist. She continues to use her experience as one of our talented paralegals; communicating with both clients and their legal professionals. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Interior Design. After staying home to raise sons Harrison and Cooper, she decided to go back into the work force after 20 years. She is a friendly voice when callers are anxious and can connect them with their next steps. She is known as the “OG”, being the first Lori to work at the firm.

Katherine (“Kat”) first worked with April as her paralegal in 2004 at another law firm. Kat was recruited in January 2013 when April first opened her solo law practice which has evolved into Advocate Family Law Group. Kat was a foundational part of making the firm the success it has become. Kat is now semi-retired after working in the field of family law for over 40 years. Kat is a pet parent to two golden retrievers (including the original Law Dog, Andrew), and a sweet cat, and she loves antiques and gardening.

Dana Richardson

Dana joined Advocate Family Law Group in 2023. Dana has been a North Carolina Certified Paralegal since 2007 and has had over 24 years of experience in family and domestic law. In her role as a paralegal at Advocate Family Law Group, she works with attorneys and clients in all stages of their cases. Dana was born and raised in Davidson County. She has a love for dogs, crafting, music, bowling, traveling with family and friends and bingo. She currently resides in High Point with her husband and two fur babies, Poonk Poonk and Kali Lily (aka Stink Pot).

Lynn is a resident of Lexington and joined our firm in August 2023. She is working in our Estate Administration. Lynn has been a North Carolina Board Certified Paralegal since 2005 and has 43 years of experience as a Paralegal in real estate and estate administration. She earned her Paralegal Degree from Davidson County Community College. She loves spending time with family and friends, cooking and baking, crocheting, and watching movies and professional basketball with her husband and son.

Marysol joined Advocate Family Law Group in 2024 as a legal assistant. She immigrated from Columbia to the US as a child and has been married for 32 years. She and her husband have 4 grown children. She enjoys life on her small farm with lots of animals. Marysol provides our offices with professional bilingual support (English/Spanish) and is often the first friendly voice you hear on the phone. Her goal is to show empathy and provide support to all clients when facing challenging legal situations.

Morgan joined Advocate Family Law Group in 2024 as a legal assistant. She graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 2016, Elon University School of Law in 2022, and will be graduating from Southern New Hampshire University in 2026. Morgan works directly with Attorney Ruth Bradshaw primarily in the Winston-Salem Office. She is originally from Arkansas but fell in love with the State of North Carolina as soon as she visited. She currently resides in Winston-Salem with her cat, Carol (aka Carol Baskins).

Cindy joined the AGLG team in July 2021 as a Billing Specialist. She also provides back-up phone and reception coverage. She has worked in the legal field for 6 years and was a Dental Assistant for over 20 years. She is originally from Tennessee and a huge University of Tennessee Volunteer fan. As a gardener, she loves growing and preserving her own vegetables and became a beekeeper several years ago. Cindy has been married to her high school sweetheart for over 40 years. She has 2 children and 4 grandchildren.

Firm Administrator
Courtney is the co-founder and law firm administrator of Advocate Family Law Group. He is responsible for oversight and strategic planning of the firm. Courtney graduated from Shepherds Theological Seminary with a master’s degree in counseling, and formerly worked as a social worker. Courtney is also the founder/owner of The Smoke and Oak, one of the best cigar lounges in North Carolina. When Courtney is not overseeing operations at the firm and building a national cigar lounge brand, he enjoys spending time with his wife April, daughter Ansley, and fur-kids Joey and Shabazz.

Lori Blevins

Office Manager
Lori B. is the firm’s part-time Office Manager, handling supply and equipment needs and providing back-up for the phones and billing. Prior to retirement, this Lexington native was the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at DCCC. After a year off, she sought an opportunity to use her computer and customer service skills and joined AFLG in February 2021. She still enjoys semi-retirement and travel with her husband and ‘sisters’ group, but she is frequently found in the back office with a to-do list and Excel spreadsheet. Lori is also the parent of one of our AFLG Law Dogs, Bean.
